At this age you attempt to converse with us as best as you can with the words that you've picked up. You also attempt to verbalise your actions, for example, slide, swing and basketball, which happen to be the latest things keeping you busy.
However, you pronounce basketball as bicycleball and we're trying to correct you on this. It's adorable when you come up to us and ask us to join you for a game of basketball. You enjoy shooting hoops and we hope to encourage you to continue in this sport when you're older so that you'll be taller than Dad's rather average 1.71m height.
Your vocabulary is increasing quite a bit and you sometimes surprise us with what you can say. I remember you climbing up on a chair yourself and saying, "Be careful", while slowing down. At the same meal, you pointed broccoli out in one of the dishes and actually enjoyed it when we fed it to you. We're currently trying to teach you to spell your name and can tell you're intentionally pretending to forget so that we can fill in the blank letters for you.
You haven't really started to enjoy writing, preferring to let us do the writing and drawing for you. Typically, you would go through the alphabet, then items starting with the respective letters, followed by shapes that include pentagons and octagons. You favourite vehicles include airplanes, cars, buses and bicycles.
You can identify armadillos, elephants and kangaroos thanks to an animal alphabet videos we play for you.
You enjoy singing kids songs and can practically recite all the lyrics of 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', 'My Grandfather's Clock' and 'Row Row Row Your Boat' as well as other kids songs that we put on repeat in the car. Dad's looking forward to share with you other kinds of music when you get bored of the kids songs.
You especially enjoying putting jigsaw puzzles together, and they have become a mandatory requirement when feeding you porridge when we're at home, along with endless repeats of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse playing on the TV.
In your 21st month, you started to acknowledge us as Mummy and Daddy, and you now greet us with joy when we come to pick you up. On the weekend of your birthday you were lazing in bed with us and went 'Mummy... Daddy... Kaelen'.
You throw tantrums when you can't get your way and have this very bad habit of banging your own head against a hard surface to show your displeasure. We're trying our best to curb this behaviour of yours. We've also learnt that shopping malls are not your thing at your age and have made a conscious effort to let you roam at parks instead, where you can run freely. We look forward to visiting more parks this year and spending quality time there.
To see off 2011, we went to Hong Kong with you and Uncle Kim Leng's family. This is a really nice photo Mum took of you at our lodging at Langham Place Mongkok...
...which had quite an awesome rooftop pool.
As you recognise most of the Mickey Mouse characters, we brought you to Disneyland.
It was a pity that you fell asleep during the 'It's a Small World' ride though.
We must admit it was brutal on our backs as we carried you around in the sling for most of the journey. Mum felt sad that you were being stifled but Dad thought it was necessary as Hong Kong is rather crowded and we didn't want to lose you.
We returned safely to Singapore where you had loads of presents that needed your attention.
We celebrated the weekend leading up to your birthday at Rochester Park followed by a walk at Harbourfront.
Happy 2nd Birthday darling boy, Mum and Dad love you always and thank you for being the greatest joy in our lives.
